Ex-Giants star: Dallas Cowboys will never win the Super Bowl with Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott has been quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys since 2016. But at least ex-Giant Plaxico Burress doesn’t believe he’ll lead them to Super Bowl honours anytime soon.

1995 was the last time the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl.

The only way they could end this prolonged slump is if they get rid of their quarterback Dak Prescott. At least that’s what Plaxico Burress, himself a Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants in 2008, thinks.

“I think he’s reached his limit as a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. They can get wins with him, but they’re not going to win championships with him,” Burress said on “The Carton Show” on “Fox Sports.”

Looking at the Cowboys’ recent history under Prescott, one might be inclined to agree with Burress’ harsh criticism.

Cowboys with three Divisional Round losses under Prescott

The Cowboys have racked up a host of wins since the 29-year-old was drafted by them in 2016. But they never had a real shot at the Super Bowl.

They never even came close to the NFL finals, to be honest. Three times Prescott led his team to the Divisional Round, three times they ended up in the last eight: 2016 against the Green Bay Packers, 2018 against the Los Angeles Rams and last season against the San Francisco 49ers.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys remain loyal to their leader – in the belief that with him they still have the best chance of winning the Super Bowl.

Even Jerry Jones, the stony-rich owner of America’s Team, believes that Prescott will bring the Vince Lombardy Trophy to Dallas. The 80-year-old reiterated that as recently as February.

Cowboys owner believes in Prescott

“I firmly believe we can win this thing with Dak,” Jones said. “Because we know him. We know what he’s about. His leadership qualities are unquestioned, his work ethic is impeccable.”

Aside from “not winning some key playoff games,” Prescott has everything you want in a quarterback, he said.

However, that’s exactly what you have to do to even get to the Super Bowl: win important playoff games.
