The offseason is really heating up in the NFL! The Washington Commanders are planning for their future, extending the contract of star defensive tackle Daron Payne long-term
Daron Payne is staying a Washington Commander! NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that the franchise and the 25-year-old have agreed to terms on a four-year, $90 million contract, $60 million of which is guaranteed. Previously, the team had franchise tagged the player.

This makes Payne the highest-paid defensive tackle after superstar Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams ($95 million over three years, $65 million of which is guaranteed).
The Pro Bowler has been active in Washington since 2018. At the time, the Commanders selected him in the first round of the NFL draft at No. 13. This past season, Payne totaled 32 tackles and 11.5 sacks.
