Dallas Cowboys: Head coach Mike McCarthy skips Scouting Combine

The NFL’s Scouting Combine will take place next week. However, the Cowboys’ head coach will not be there

The NFL’s Scouting Combine will take place next week in Indianapolis. According to “ESPN”, however, the Dallas Cowboys’ head coach will not be attending.

According to the report, Mike McCarthy cited time efficiency and a lack of capacity due to his workload as reasons for staying in Dallas together with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

“Zim and I will have a full week together here and get a lot of things done that we’re working on,” McCarthy was quoted as saying by ESPN. “At the same time, we can still participate in the Combine process and have direct contact via video calls and meetings while our coaches are on site.”

Aside from a multi-hour meeting with the media in Indianapolis, the head coach was also absent from last year’s Combine because he made changes to the team’s offensive scheme during that time.

The Cowboys led the NFL in scoring in 2023, but were eliminated in the playoffs after a crushing loss to the Green Bay Packers.
