The Dallas Cowboys are playing a convincing season in the NFL so far, with the defeat of the San Francisco 49ers against the Tennessee Titans securing their play-off participation early in Week 16. Wide receiver Amari Cooper is nonetheless unhappy and laments the performance of the offense in recent weeks.
Munich/Dallas – The Dallas Cowboys present themselves as serious Super Bowl candidates this season, and with the success of the Tennessee Titans over the San Francisco 49ers at the start of Week 16, “America’s Team” can no longer be denied a play-off spot.
While in the first half of the season, it was often the offense around quarterback Dak Prescott that shone, in recent games it was the defence that secured important victories for the Cowboys.
NFL: Cooper criticises Cowboys offence
This fact seems to especially piss off star wide receiver Amari Cooper. Speaking on the radio show “105.3 The Fan”, the 27-year-old vented his displeasure. “I’ll be honest, it bothers me. We’re winning, but the defence is playing a big part in it. We’re not as explosive as we should be,” the pass receiver said.
In addition, Cooper criticised the lack of scoring after turnovers as well as what he felt were too few red zone targets. “I think I can do more in the red zone if I get targets. And I can do more on third downs when I get targets. Helping the offense get to where we need to be – I can do my part,” the four-time Pro Bowler is sure.
In the current season, Cooper stands at 683 receiving yards and six touchdowns after twelve games, most recently he experienced a disappointment in the 21-6 win over the New York Giants with only two catches for eight yards.
