Bitter news for pass rusher Brian Burns of the Carolina Panthers. The Pro Bowler has had to undergo ankle surgery.

New tests on the injured right foot last week had revealed a small fracture that necessitated the procedure.

Brian Burns fit to return to training camp

Burns had missed the final game of the 2022 season, in which he posted a career-best 12.5 sacks, due to the injury.

He is expected to be ready to return to Carolina’s 2019 first-round pick by the start of Training Camp in August.

Burns is entering the final year of his rookie contract this upcoming season, with a high-paying long-term deal awaiting him.
