Atlanta Falcons: Mental issues! Calvin Ridley retires

Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley will retire from football due to mental problems. He made the announcement himself via Twitter.

Munich – Cramming news for the Atlanta Falcons! Calvin Ridley will retire from football due to mental health issues. Whether it’s temporary or permanent is not clear from a personal statement the wide receiver released via Twitter.

Ridley wrote: “The last few weeks have been very stressful and as much as I would love to be on the field with my teammates, I need to retire from football now and focus on my mental well-being. This will help me to be the best version of myself now and in the future.”

It goes on to say, “I want to thank my teammates, the entire Atlanta Falcons organization, our great fans, my friends and family for all of their support during this time. “

First break at the London Game

The 26-year-old had already missed the NFL’s London Game on Matchday 5 against the New York Jets for personal reasons. This weekend, too, the Falcons initially explained Ridley’s absence with a personal matter.

Tajae Sharpe stepped up for the receiver, who has 31 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns in five games. Without Ridley, the Falcons lost 13-19 to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday as part of Game 8. The Falcons now stand at a 3-4 record.
