Arizona Cardinals: Owner Bidwill believes in Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray

The Arizona Cardinals’ season was disappointing. Still, the team’s owner believes in a “bright future” with coach Kliff Kingsbury and a “long-term” plan with playmaker Kyler Murray.

Munich – Behind the Arizona Cardinals lies another disappointing season. In the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, they suffered a clear defeat against the eventual Super Bowl winner Los Angeles Rams.

Unsurprisingly, there was speculation about whether the team could look for a new head coach. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has one year left on his contract and an option for the fifth year, so he should be in the hot seat in 2022.

Team owner Michael Bidwill, however, does not want to give up Kingsbury at all. In an interview with “Arizona Sports 98.7”, for example, he used the term “bright future” several times in connection with his coach.

“I look at the college coaches that have made the transition from college to the pros and are successful, and Kliff is it,” Bidwill said of Kingsbury, who formerly taught at Texas Tech.

Kyler Murray to stay with Cardinals long-term

And continued, “I feel like he’s had an adjustment period, a couple years to adjust, and I feel like he’s getting better and better because I feel like he understands the pro rules and the pro game and the pro speed and everything a lot better than he did a couple years ago. “

At the beginning of last season, the Cardinals were THE team in the NFL. A 7-0 start impressed the competition, but then the season went in the wrong direction and ended with a crashing defeat in the playoffs.

The owner blamed this primarily on injury concerns surrounding receiver DeAndre Hopkins and quarterback Kyler Murray, whom he also holds in high regard and sees as part of a “long-term plan”. Recently, there had also been rumours about the quarterback possibly leaving the franchise. There was talk of tensions between the player and the club, for example. Murray then spoke out on Instagram and denied the allegations.
