Amon-Ra St. Brown is cutting a decent figure as a fourth-round pick by the Detroit Lions as a rookie. Coach Dan Campbell now wants to get the wide receiver more involved.

Munich – The Detroit Lions are in an unpleasant situation. The team is currently stumbling through a rebuild, which is further complicated by an 0-8 record. A sense of achievement would undoubtedly help the young team to develop.

Amon-Ra St. Brown should help with this.

The German wide receiver should get more playing time in the coming weeks. This was hinted at by coach Dan Campbell, who has to find solutions for the lame offence in the upcoming bye week. The most recent loss came in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles with 6:44 to play.

Dan Campbell: “Have to take a good look at St. Brown “

“I think we have to take a good look at (Amon-Ra) St. Brown,” Campbell said. “There are things we can do with him that will help him help us. Maybe that’s the best way to put it. We’ve got to start looking at some of these guys.”

Because one of the Lions problems is the receiver position. In the loss to the Eagles, for example, St. Brown was the only receiver to catch a ball, tallying three for 46 yards. A 35-yard catch did not count because of a penalty.

After eight games, St. Brown is 27 of 38 passing for 250 yards. Currently, only fellow receiver Kalif Raymond is better than St. Brown with 334 yards and two touchdowns. In general, the 22-year-old is on the field for about 60 percent of the offensive snaps.

Quarterback Jared Goff’s favourite target is tight end T.J. Hockenson, who has 448 yards and two touchdowns.

More targets for St. Brown?

The question for Bye Week: is there a better way to get St. Brown involved? Are there more targets for him?

“We’ve got to get the receivers going, and we haven’t put all our cards on the table yet,” Campbell said, announcing, “We’ve got to stop shying away from some things and get them going the other way. We may have to do that – that’s all. We will look at everything.”
