Amon-Ra St. Brown on Detroit Lions: “Have a very good offense”

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown spoke positively about the Detroit Lions’ offense during the first practice sessions. In doing so, he also offered some insight for the upcoming season.

Munich – Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown finished last season with just over 900 receiving yards. He and the Detroit Lions are climbing the famously infamous ascending branch, led by head coach Dan Campbell.

During the first practice sessions, St. Brown commented on the current situation with the Lions. “We have a very good offence. Our offensive line is solid, we have great tight ends that can catch and block. All of our running backs are solid. The wide receiver additions round out our offense. I’m excited to see what we can pull off,” said the 22-year-old with German roots.

Detroit Lions: plenty of speed for the offense

In free agency and in the NFL Draft, the Lions invested heavily in new pass receivers. With Jameson Williams and D.J. Chark quarterback Jared Goff gets two arrow-quick wide receivers who should improve the vertical passing game.

“The new guys will open up the field more, the deep passes didn’t really sit last year, that should increase now,” St. Brown said.

For last year’s rookie, who operates primarily out of the slot, this should open up more spaces in the short passing game.

Who calls the plays?

At the same time, it’s not clear who will call the plays for the Lions. Ben Johnson, who was in charge of the tight ends last year, has been promoted to offensive coordinator. In the midst of last season, he already took on duties in coordinating the passing game, which flourished under his direction.

Head coach Dan Campbell, however, is keeping an open mind as to whether Johnson or he will call the plays on game day.

What is clear, however, is that the Lions offence is getting a makeover: “The offence looks different than last year. There are some new things, it takes a moment to internalise that. But once we get it all down, it’s going to be easy for us,” St Brown said.
