Aaron Rodgers: Green Bay Packers with new demands from New York Jets, according to report.

Nearly a month ago, Aaron Rodgers publicly announced his intention to join the New York Jets. Since then, rumours have been rife about the Green Bay Packers’ demands for the star quarterback. Now it appears to be getting a little more concrete.

The Green Bay Packers have apparently made their demands for Aaron Rodgers more concrete.

According to a report from “Yahoo Sports”, the Packers want a second-round pick this year (2023 draft) and a first-round pick next year (2024) for Rodgers from the New York Jets.

Jets owner won’t take chances

No question, that would be a hefty draft capital. According to the report, the Packers have offered the Jets at least some sort of pick protection in the 2025 draft should Rodgers end his career as early as after next season.

But according to the report, the Jets led by owner Woody Johnson have already turned down the offer of the guaranteed first-round pick. The reason: Johnson got cold feet after seeing how the Denver Broncos fared.

Aaron Rodgers: trade showdown likely at draft

The Broncos traded two first-round picks to the Seattle Seahawks for quarterback Russell Wilson, among others, before last season. But the trade went completely south for the Broncos – at least so far – because Wilson didn’t deliver at all in his first season in Denver.

The Jets want to avoid this scenario so they don’t end up giving up those valuable draft picks for a struggling playmaker (last season).

So the signs are growing that the trade will happen during or after this year’s draft.
