Thursday Night Game: Dolphins defence stops Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens suffer a surprising defeat to open the 10th day of play. The Miami Dolphins defence holds Baltimore’s offence to two scores.

Foxborough – The Baltimore Ravens have surprisingly conceded their third loss of the season.

Head Coach John Harbaugh’s team lost 10-22 (3-6) at the Miami Dolphins in the Thursday Night Game opener.

In a game dominated by the defensive lines, quarterback Lamar Jackson was unable to build on his performance from the previous week when he shined in the win over the Minnesota Vikings by passing and running for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

Jackson finished with 238 passing yards and 39 rushing yards, as well as a touchdown pass and an interception. Baltimore’s points came on a 5-yard catch in the end zone by kicker Justin Tucker to make it 3-0 in the interim and tight end Mark Andrews to make it 10-15.

Tagovailoa replaces injured Brissett

For the Dolphins, Head Coach Brian Flores had to make a change at the passing position during the game.

Jacoby Brissett, who initially replaced the injured Tua Tagovailoa at the start, had to leave the field in the third quarter with a knee injury, Tagovailoa, although banged up on his throwing hand and therefore initially spared, replaced him.

The Dolphins’ touchdowns came from cornerback Xavien Howard, who knocked the ball out of Sammy Watkins’ hand and carried it 49 yards into the end zone, and Tagovailoa with a quarterback sneak to make it 22-10.

Baltimore stays on top
Despite now having 3 losses in six wins, the Ravens lead the AFC North and the Dolphins move past the New York Jets from the bottom of the AFC East into third place with their 3rd win in 7 losses.

The matchday continues on Sunday with the Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots, among others, from 6:00 p.m., another AFC North vs. AFC East clash.
