Washington Commanders: Commissioner Roger Goodell hires independent investigators

Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Commanders, responds to allegations of sexual harassment against female employees and hires investigators himself. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, however, doesn’t think that’s a sensible idea and puts a stop to Snyder.

Munich/Washington – “I don’t see any way a team can investigate itself.”

With these words, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell justified at a press conference why the NFL is appointing independent investigators to the allegations of sexual harassment at the Washington Commanders. Background: former employee Tiffany Johnston alleged a few days ago that Commanders owner Dan Snyder sexually harassed her.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell keeps Dan Snyder on a short leash

“We’ve been looking into Ms. Johnston’s allegations since last week. The league – not the team – will conduct an investigation and, with the help of an independent investigator, will review the facts shortly,” reads a statement from the NFL.

This is Goodell’s response to Snyder’s wayward actions in wanting to employ investigators of his own to look into the allegations. “We are getting help from outside experts and want to get to the bottom of this so we can make the right decisions. We take this matter extremely seriously,” Goodell stressed.
