Tua Tagovailoa on concussion: ‘I didn’t know what was happening around me’

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can only vaguely remember the scenes before and after his hit in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The former first-round pick suffered a concussion in the game.

Munich – Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins has no memories of the momentous hit that has forced him to take a break ever since. “At one point I was unconscious,” the quarterback said in a media roundtable on Wednesday.

Tagovailoa had been brought down and crashed to the back of the head in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals (15-27) just over three weeks ago, leaving the Hawaiian with a concussion. He had already been hit hard the previous week.

Tua Tagovailoa: “Can’t remember it “

“I didn’t know what was happening around me. I don’t remember being taken away,” the 24-year-old said now. Only “some things from the ambulance and the hospital” were still in his mind, he said. Also memories of the time before the violent hit.

Tagovailoa has not played since he was out on 29 September. Because of the case, the league and the players’ union had agreed on a tightening of the rules: if a professional has problems with balance, coordination or speech during a game, he is now not allowed to return to the field.

Quarterback Tagovailoa had already visibly struggled against the Buffalo Bills after a hard hit, but kept playing. Then it crashed again against Cincinnati, Tagovailoa flat on his back, his cramped fingers pointing in all directions.
