Tom Brady becomes team owner in electric boat racing series

Tom Brady has found a new pastime. The seven-time Super Bowl winner is going for titles on the water and is the new owner of an electric boat racing team.

NFL legend Tom Brady is going for the big titles on the water in future – at least indirectly. The seven-time Super Bowl winner is entering the new electric boat racing series UIM E1 World Championship with his own team.

“It’s great to welcome Tom Brady to the UIM E1 World Championship. Tom is a winner and will bring his incredible spirit to our races,” said Alejandro Agag, co-founder and chairman of the racing series.

The electric boat series will start its inaugural season in 2024 and will host racing events around the globe. The organisers of the UIM-E1 World Championship plan to have ten teams in the debut season.

Tom Brady like Rafael Nadal

Brady is by no means the first prominent sportsman to participate. Among others, tennis icon Rafael Nadal, Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez and former football star Didier Drogba have already launched their own teams. Other big names, Agag announced, are to follow soon.

A first show event of the series is to be held in Rotterdam at the beginning of September, and the first official round is planned for the spring of 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

However, the “GOAT” has not yet completely said goodbye to American football. In June, he took a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. “It’s something I want to do for the rest of my life,” Brady said of his stint with the Raiders, “It’s not something I want to do for just a year or two. “
