After the accumulation of positive corona cases in the NFL, the league is now tightening its rules. In a letter it even threatens automatic defeats for teams.
After the recent accumulation of positive COVID-19 cases in the league, the NFL is tightening the reins once again.
In a memo that the teams received on Monday, new measures were announced.
“These changes include a longer onboarding process for Free Agents, bans on meeting outside the team facility, limits on the number of tryouts per week, and the implementation of a league-wide video surveillance system to ensure compliance. Specifically, the rule that all employees and players in a team facility and while traveling must wear mouthguards at all times,” the letter states.
If the teams do not comply with the league’s rules, they face severe penalties, including automatic defeat.
The memo states: “Breaches of rules that lead to the spread of viruses and affect the schedule or affect other teams will result in additional financial and competitive penalties, including the loss of draft picks or even the loss of a game”.
Recommendations were also made to the teams on how to hold virtual meetings or wear masks during training. In recent weeks, the NFL had already imposed several penalties on teams, for example, because coaches on the sidelines did not wear mouth-and-nose protection.
