Andy Dalton is an NFL quarterback. But also a man of honour.

The current New Orleans Saints playcaller is returning the favour to Buffalo Bills fans for a 2018 action in which he and his wife donated $3,000 to hospitalised Damar Hamlin’s community service project.

During his playing days, Dalton – of all people – played for the Cincinnati Bengals, defeating the Baltimore Ravens with a strong performance in the final game of the regular season. This allowed the Bills to still make the playoffs. The fans, the so-called “Bills Mafia”, honoured this by transferring over 400,000 dollars to the Dalton Foundation for Charity Aid.

While the 35-year-old already used some of the money to help a children’s hospital in Buffalo at the time, he showed himself to be kind once again.

Nearly four years into 2018, Bills safety Damar Hamlin is injured during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals and has to be resuscitated several times after going into cardiac arrest. The 24-year-old is in critical condition in Cincinnati hospital.

The shocked sports world starts donating money to the Bills player’s project, which collects toys for needy children. The targeted GoFundMe goal was $2,500 and is now at over six million dollars.

Dalton and his wife find themselves in the donation list with an entry for $3,000 even.

Although Dalton never played for the Bills, this is a special connection with the fans of that team. The gesture was followed by an Instagram message in which Dalton thanked Hamlin for his support at the time and said his thoughts are with Hamlin and hoping for the best.

The Daltons took much of the money donated by BillsMafia then and made significant contributions to a Buffalo Children’s Hospital.
