Senior Bowl – Detroit Lions and New York Jets coach teams

The Detroit Lions and New York Jets are getting exclusive looks at a host of talent ahead of the 2022 draft: The two teams will provide the coaches for the Senior Bowl on Feb. 5.

Munich – Those who do poorly in the NFL season get a few “consolation prizes”.

In addition to early draft picks, these include the opportunity to coach the two teams at the annual Senior Bowl. Which gives the coaches an exclusive look at the talent as they prepare them for the game on 5 February in Mobile, Alabama, during the week of practice, so they get to know them better.

The talents, in turn, will be able to demonstrate their skills once again before the draft and show themselves in front of numerous NFL scouts who will also be present at the game.

In 2022, the Detroit Lions, the team of German wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the New York Jets will take over the workouts, which begin on February 1.

Head coaches in an advisory capacity only

Significant difference from the past: Head Coaches Dan Campbell and Robert Saleh are “only” acting in an advisory capacity, appointing a member of their staff to take over the head coach’s duties. The other roles can also be reassigned as needed.

“We look forward to kicking off our 2022 offseason with the Senior Bowl and watching some of the best college players prepare for the next level firsthand,” Campbell said. “My team and I welcome this unique opportunity. “

Famous players have been there

The Lions were last at the Senior Bowl in 2020, then with former coach Matt Patricia. Later in the draft, Detroit grabbed four players who auditioned at the Senior Bowl.

Last year, 106 players were selected from the Senior Bowl in the draft. In previous years, players such as Justin Herbert (Chargers), Mac Jones (Patriots), Chase Claypool (Steelers), Jalen Hurts (Eagles), Deebo Samuel (49ers), Montez Sweat (WFT) or DeVonta Smith (Eagles) took part in the Senior Bowl.
