Pro Bowl: Fullback Jakob Johnson is ready as a replacement

Voting for the Pro Bowl has closed, the NFL has announced the squads. In addition to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jakob Johnson also misses out on the All Star Game – for the time being, because as he himself reveals, he is ready as a replacement.

The disappointment of German fans was great when the squads for this year’s Pro Bowl in Las Vegas were announced.

Neither Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions nor Jakob Johnson of the Las Vegas Raiders made the All-Star team of their respective conference. At least not in the first instance. Because like St. Brown, Johnson is available as a replacement.

In case of injury or Super Bowl entry: Johnson moves up for Ricard

The Stuttgart native admitted as much himself on the podcast “Unfortunately, I was only ninth out of ten in the fan voting,” Johnson said.

However, fans only account for a third of the votes, the other 67 percent or so coming from coaches and players. Since the Raiders’ No. 45 was probably highly rated by them, the pre-blocker still made it to the Pro Bowl – at least if there was a demand for back-up players.

“I’ve been informed that I’m an alternate, so I’m kind of a substitute,” Johnson said in an interview with Icke. The starting fullback in the AFC this year, as in previous seasons, is Patrick Ricard of the Baltimore Ravens.

So should he cancel due to injury or be in the Super Bowl with the Ravens, there’s a good chance Jakob Johnson will indeed get his Pro Bowl home game in Las Vegas on Feb. 5.
