Players’ union announces: 59 NFL players tested positive for Corona

Since the beginning of the Corona Pandemic, 59 NFL players have tested positive for the virus. The NFL wants to keep the situation under control with numerous tests during the training camps.

The Corona Pandemic has so far led to the cancellation or postponement of almost every sports league and event worldwide. The NFL has so far been “largely” spared from this due to its schedule ending in February.

But now the complete preseason has been cancelled! And also a punctual season start on September 10th is still in the stars. As the players’ union NFLPA announced, 59 active players have already been infected with Covid-19 during the pandemic. Among them stars like Broncos linebacker Von Miller or cowboy running back Ezekiel Elliott.

95 people infected in total
The NFLPA had previously announced on Twitter that 95 players were infected with the virus. However, the number was then reduced to 59 players. The number 95 refers to all NFL-related persons – including coaches and team members – who have been infected so far.

During the first two weeks of the training camp the players will be tested daily for Covid-19. If the number of positive tested players exceeds the five percent mark, daily testing will continue. If the number is less than five percent, testing shall only be done every other day.
