NFL Week 12: Statement wins for Packers and Broncos

The Green Bay Packers make a statement in their clash with the Los Angeles Rams, the Denver Broncos manage a very important win against the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West play-off race. Dalvin Cook is expected to suffer a serious injury for the Vikings.

Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers 28:36

The Green Bay Packers with German-American receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (seven receiving yards) put an exclamation mark on the duel between two top teams. The Wisconsin franchise defeated the Los Angeles Rams 36-28 at home in Lambeau Field.

The Packers are now 9-3, lead the NFC North and are the second best team in the NFC behind the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams, who recently added Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr, conceded their third straight loss and suffer another setback to their Super Bowl aspirations.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a sparkling performance with 307 passing yards and two touchdown passes. The signal caller himself scored another touchdown. It didn’t go so well for Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, despite 302 passing yards and three touchdown passes, he made a bitter interception that was returned by cornerback Rasul Douglas for six points. Stafford has now thrown a pick six in each of the last three games. Since 1950, only Matt Schaub (4) has a longer pick-six streak.

Interesting from a Rams perspective, Beckham Jr. scored the first touchdown for his new team.

Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos 13:28

The Denver Broncos got a hugely important win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West playoff race. The Colorado team defeated the L.A. franchise 28-13 and now stands at 6-5, the same record the Chargers have.

Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was injured on a blind side hit by Derwin James late in the first quarter and had to leave the field temporarily. Taking over for Bridgewater was Drew Lock, who proved once again that he is not the franchise quarterback the Broncos had hoped for.

After Lock threw an interception and X-rays showed no serious injury to Bridgewater, the 29-year-old returned to lead the Broncos to victory with 129 total passing yards, one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown.

For the Chargers, Justin Herbert made two interceptions, one returned for a pick six by Pat Surtain. Herbert threw for 303 total yards and two touchdowns.

Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers 26:34

In a wild game the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 34:26. The Californians dominated the Vikings especially in the running game, with a total of 209 to 67 rushing yards. 49ers running back Eli Mitchell alone ran for 133 yards and a touchdown. But the match-winner for the 49ers was receiver Deebo Samuel with two rushing touchdowns and 66 receiving yards. This makes Samuel the first 49ers ball catcher with more than 1,000 season receiving yards since Anquan Boldin in 2014.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 230 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Vikings signal caller Kirk Cousins totaled 238 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. The Vikings are now 5-6 in the NFC North, while the 49ers improve to 6-5 in the NFC West.

Bitterly for the Vikings, star running back Dalvin Cook badly twisted his knee, fell hard and had to be carted off the field in tears. The Vikings spoke after the game of a shoulder injury.
