Travis Kelce thinks he knows how NFL teams will make life difficult for Travis Hunter, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ two-way player.
Travis Hunter is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players to enter the NFL in recent years.
The 22-year-old is one of the first players in decades to want to play permanently on offense as a wide receiver and on defense as a cornerback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars see Hunter in exactly this dual role and drafted him second overall to let the Heisman Trophy winner play most of the snaps as a two-way player.
Competition for Travis Hunter? This Packers player could play offense and defense
One of the last two-way players in the NFL was Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who was Hunter’s head coach at college with the Colorado Buffaloes and is the father of Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders ended his career in 2005.
Now Hunter will try to follow in those big footsteps. This is also bringing other players who have thoughts on the topic of two-way players into the picture.
Now Travis Kelce has spoken up, explaining what strategy NFL teams could use to make life difficult for his namesake.
Travis Kelce: “Why wouldn’t you go after Hunter?”
“The teams will be after him. They’ll try to make every game hell for him,” said the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on the podcast “Bussin’ With The Boys.”
“If he plays cornerback, they’re going to throw deep balls at him all game long. The wide receivers are going to work him all the time. Just to wear him down. Why wouldn’t you do that?” Taylor Swift’s partner continued.
Hunter has already stated several times that he is physically capable of easily handling the double workload. Jacksonville’s general manager James Gladstone also said recently that the rookie “just doesn’t get tired.”
Travis Kelce, however, believes that NFL teams will thoroughly test Travis Hunter’s stamina.
