After LeBron James announced his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, several NFL teams jokingly weighed in on the debate about his future.
LeBron James is leaving the Los Angeles Lakers after eight years with the team and is looking for a new team. This was confirmed by his agent, NBA insider Shams Charania.
This news promptly drew the attention of several NFL teams—at least in jest.
Several NFL teams, including the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans, joked on social media about the four-time NBA champion potentially making the switch to the NFL. The Winnipeg Jets of the NHL also joined in on the fun.
LeBron James: Wide Receiver in High School
The idea isn’t entirely out of the blue: James played wide receiver at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and even received offers from Division I colleges.
During his high school career, he racked up 103 catches, 2,065 yards, and 23 touchdowns—even though he didn’t play at all during his senior year.
It’s still unclear where LeBron will end up. According to insider reports, he has instructed his agent to gather offers from across the league.
