Cam Newton conducts a podcast. The former NFL MVP criticizes four quarterbacks and explains the difference between them and the top tier.
Cam Newton is still looking for a job in the NFL. The 34-year-old last played for the Carolina Panthers almost two years ago.
Since then, he has been a free agent. But the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner and 2015 NFL MVP continues to draw attention to himself verbally.
His own podcast helps with this. At the beginning of the season, he initially named a list of NFL QBs he could imagine replacing.
The latest episode is far more critical. Although he praises two players, he criticizes four others, causing a stir.
Cam Newton on game managers and game changers
While for some NFL experts Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) and Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers) are in the MVP discussion, Newton explains why he sees it differently:
“Teams don’t win because of them. They’re not supposed to give the ball away. They’re supposed to manage the game. Purdy, Prescott, Tagovailoa, Goff. They’re game managers. Not difference makers. “

Prescott is at 28 touchdown passes, six interceptions. Purdy with 25 TDs to seven INTs. Both have over 3,500 passing yards and around 70 percent of all passes are completed.
Good stats, but that alone does not convince Newton. He includes Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins in this criticism.
Newton names top quarterbacks
“You’re not supposed to win a game. They’re just not supposed to lose it. They don’t even have to score themselves, they’re just not supposed to throw a pick. That’s it, that’s their job,” said Newton, summing up the four players in question.
“They’re game managers, not game changers. They’re not like a Lamar Jackson or a Patrick Mahomes,” Newton continued.
Two quarterbacks who are in a different league for the former Panthers star.
However, neither Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) nor Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) have come close to Purdy and Prescott’s stats this season.
