NFL: Odell Beckham Jr. may only want to join a playoff team

If recently released Odell Beckham Jr. doesn’t get picked up by a team on waivers, he’d apparently prefer to join an ambitious playoff team.

Munich – Until next Tuesday at 4 p.m. German time, NFL teams in a certain order have the opportunity to pick up recently released Odell Beckham Jr. from the waiver wire.

If this does not happen, the former wide receiver of the Cleveland Browns would officially be a free agent as of Tuesday and could negotiate with any team. As “ESPN” is now reporting, the group of possible destinations for “OBJ” could be narrowed down.

OBJ wants to go to a playoff team

So according to the report, the 29-year-old doesn’t just want to join any team, but a team with playoff aspirations. So he’s drawn to a success-oriented franchise because that’s where he’s most likely to be productive.

Should a team pick him up that doesn’t fit that category, the moody receiver could once again cause a stink, which is why it’s considered likely in league circles that interested teams will contact Beckham Jr. before doing so.

In addition, a number of high-profile players are said to have already sought out talks with him in an attempt to convince him to join their teams. Since no deal was reached for their former player during the trade deadline on the part of the Browns, both sides agreed to terminate his contract.

“It’s a shame, but some things just don’t work out in the NFL sometimes,” Browns GM Andrew Berry said in the wake of the formal release of Beckham Jr.
