Jason Garrett is out of a job again. The New York Giants fire their offensive coordinator after the 10-30 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Munich/New York – After 26 games it’s over for Jason Garrett in the “Big Apple”.
The New York Giants have fired the offensive coordinator after the 10:30 loss to the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Garrett’s record in New York is sobering: With the 55-year-old as offensive playcaller, the Giants won only nine games and scored more than 20 points only ten times.
Head coach Joe Judge: “Offense has to be more productive “
“I feel like we have to be more productive as an offense. I don’t think we’re scoring enough points,” said Head Coach Joe Judge.
Overall, he said the entire coaching staff needs to “do a better job of scoring points.” He said the coaching staff needs to “understand how we need to play this game and give our players a chance to make plays. “
Freddie Kitchens takes over
Garrett’s successor is said to have already been decided. According to consistent media reports, Freddie Kitchens will serve as the play caller for the offense going forward.
The 46-year-old was head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and joined the Giants as tight ends coach in 2020. Most recently, he acted as senior offensive assistant.
