NFL: Los Angeles Rams release star receiver Cooper Kupp after unsuccessful trade search

After failing to find a trade partner, the Los Angeles Rams are releasing star receiver Cooper Kupp at the start of the new league year.

The Los Angeles Rams and Cooper Kupp are going their separate ways in the future. After the franchise was unable to find a trade partner, the star receiver is to be released at the start of the new league year.

However, that doesn’t mean Kupp isn’t interested. According to various media reports, there are several teams waiting for the release to negotiate with the 31-year-old.

One of these teams is said to be the Green Bay Packers. Kupp has already indicated that he wants to continue his career.

Cooper Kupp goes down as a Rams legend

Kupp was drafted in the third round in 2017 and quickly established himself as one of the top receivers in the league.

In the 2021 season, he wrote himself into the NFL history books, leading the league in all categories with 145 catches, 1,947 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns to win the so-called “triple crown.”

The receiver capped his fairy-tale season by winning the Super Bowl and being named MVP. He was also named Player of the Year for his performances in the regular season.

According to “nfl.com”, by releasing him before June 1, 2025, the Rams will save $7.5 million in cap space but also record $22.3 million in dead money.
