NFL legend J.J. Watt: “America craves football”.

NFL legend J.J. Watt has spoken in an interview about his involvement with Premier League club Burnley FC – and a possible rivalry with an old acquaintance: Tom Brady.

J.J. Watt announced his career end a few months ago and has been in football retirement ever since. The pass rusher, who was one of the best players in the league at times during his playing days, has changed sports in retirement.

He invested – together with his wife – in the English first division club Burnley FC. During an interview with “ESPN”, Watt now spoke about his commitment to the Premier League promoted team.

“America craves football. There are a lot of people who are very interested and are currently still looking for a team to cheer for. I then naturally want to keep the eyes on Burnley,” Watt said.

Watt, however, has been facing competition for the attention of the US market from Tom Brady in recent weeks. The quarterback, who also retired from football a few months ago, joined Birmingham City.

“It obviously increases the competition, which is good. We’ll both end up pushing ourselves that much harder,” Watt said, continuing, “Birmingham are in League Two, so I can cheer them on a bit. If they get promoted to the Premier League and we meet, it will be fun. Brady has had a lot of success on a different turf in his career, I like our chances here. “
