NFL: Kyler Murray to receive his own statue from his college team

Kyler Murray will be honored by the Oklahoma Sooners for his contributions in college with a statue. This one shows him with his trademark in his college days.

Just 25 years old – and already a statue of his own.

That honor has been bestowed upon Kyler Murray. The star quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals is being honored for his outstanding performance in college for the Oklahoma Sooners.

He won the Big 12 Conference championship with the college team during the 2018 season, then was awarded the Heisman Trophy as the best college player of the year.

Attending the festivities in Norman, Oklahoma, this weekend was Murray himself along with his family.

The statue shows him without a helmet in a throwing motion. While doing so, the figure wears the distinctive headband that became Murray’s trademark during his college days and which he patented.

Murray is the seventh Soooner to be awarded the Heisman Trophy. His statue now stands alongside his predecessors Baker Mayfield, Sam Bradford, Jason White, Billy Sims, Steve Owens and Billy Vessels.

Murray is currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the closing stages of last Regular Season.The Arizona Cardinals are making significant progress in their recovery from a torn ACL.
