NFL-Start Jared Goff and his wife Christen Harper are just two of many celebrities looking to bring a WNBA team back to Detroit.
Will Detroit get a WNBA team again soon?
As several US media outlets have reported, a group of investors has set itself precisely that goal.
The investors include numerous celebrities from sports, business and entertainment. Jared Goff, quarterback of the Detroit Lions, and his wife, supermodel Christen Harper, have also joined the group.
The investors are led by Tom Gores, owner of the NBA franchise Detroit Pistons.
But former NBA stars Chris Webber and Grant Hill, Lions owner Shelia Hamp and General Motors CEO Mary Barra are also investing in the project.
“This is a great opportunity to bring the WNBA back to Detroit and to attract additional investment and economic activity to the city,” said Gores.
Detroit has been without a team in the professional women’s basketball league since 2009, when the Detroit Shock left the city in Michigan.
