Jakob Johnson once played alongside Tom Brady for the Patriots. He took on some pain for the star quarterback.
Exciting statement from Jakob Johnson: The German has been active in the NFL for six years. He started his career with the New England Patriots, for whom he played from 2019 to 2021.
In his first year in Foxborough, the now 30-year-old played alongside quarterback legend Tom Brady, for whom he took a lot of pain, as Johnson revealed in an interview with “DAZN”.
In 2019, Johnson and the Patriots offense were at the goal line in a game. The first play was for Johnson, who broke his shoulder blade in a hit with a linebacker. But that only became clear later after the X-ray.
The German fullback gritted his teeth – for and especially because of Brady. Johnson actually wanted to be substituted because he couldn’t move his arm anymore due to the pain.
But then Brady looked at him and asked: “Jak, you okay, baby?”
Jakob Johnson: You can’t say “no” to Tom Brady
Johnson admitted that Brady’s question prompted him to get back up and try to get through another play. When the Patriots failed to get into the end zone a second time, Johnson noticed that his shoulder was hanging to the side.
“I played with a broken shoulder because Tom Brady smiled at me. When Tom Brady tells you to get up and score, you do just that,” Johnson summarized the anecdote.
Brady left the Patriots after the 2019 season and Johnson has also moved on. After a stint with the Las Vegas Raiders, he is currently a member of the New York Giants practice squad.
