NFL in Frankfurt: Fake news about the stadium goes viral

A fake news story goes viral on social media during the Frankfurt Game. Not everyone seems to be able to decipher this as a satirical post

A fake post went viral on the X platform – formerly Twitter – after the NFL’s Frankfurt game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.

The post is about alleged vandalism at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park. However, many in the comments and on the platform seem not to have noticed that it was not a real picture but a troll.

Patrick Esume, for example, shared the troll post in relation to the NFL game in Frankfurt and added: “Shame…”

Joke or not, the Commissioner of the European League of Football was not the only one to have such a reaction to this fake news. But what was it about in detail?

The original post by the X-user “@Aule1986” showed destroyed and burnt seat shells in a soccer stadium. The stands of the stadium were affected by violent vandalism.

The user wrote: “I can’t believe what the supposedly peaceful football fans are doing here in Frankfurt.”

An obvious fake post – but apparently not for everyone to decipher as such. The color of the seat shells in the picture shows that these can’t be pictures of the Chiefs-Dolphins game at all

Confusion about troll post

In Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park, the seats are black – but blue in the picture. There is wild speculation in the comments as to where the picture comes from. In the end, however, the only thing that matters is that it definitely wasn’t Frankfurt

Many people ignored this fact. They allowed themselves to be misled.

The original post now has over 220,000 views and almost 2,000 likes. Some of the satire continues in the comments.

Esume shared the post by the user “@EkelLenny”, who also retweeted the post and wrote in the style of the satirical post: “Phew, German football didn’t cover itself in glory yesterday. Shameful pictures. “

Fake posts like this are commonplace, especially in the “X” soccer bubble, and are usually pure satire.
