As expected, Lamar Jackson was named MVP for the second time in his NFL career. The winners of the NFL Honors at a glance

Quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens has been voted MVP of the 2023 NFL season as expected. The 27-year-old accepted the award three days before the Super Bowl as part of the NFL Honors in Las Vegas.

It is the second MVP award of Jackson’s career after 2019. “I want to thank my organization, the Baltimore Ravens, for finally getting the deal done,” said Jackson, who signed his five-year, $260 million contract nine months ago.

“My offense [and] offensive line, I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done. I’m not out there to block, catch the ball and do everything. It’s a team thing for these awards,” he continued.

Jackson received 49 of the 50 first-place votes in the balloting, just missing the unanimous crown by a hair. The only other player to receive an MVP vote was quarterback Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, who only finished in fifth place.

In the end, Jackson won the vote hands down with 493 points, with quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys in second place (152 points). They were followed by running back Christian McCaffrey (147) and quarterback Brock Purdy (97; both San Francisco 49ers).

McCaffrey, meanwhile, received the Offensive Player of the Year award. The 27-year-old broke the mark of 2,000 scrimmage yards and scored 21 total touchdowns. Pass rusher Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns was voted the best defensive player of the season.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans was unsurprisingly named Offensive Rookie of the Season. He won the award against competition from Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams), Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs (both Detroit Lions) and Bijan Robinson (Atlanta Falcons).

Defensive Rookie of the Year also went to a Texans player, with defensive end Will Anderson winning the award. The Coach of the Year award went to head coach Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns, who also won Comeback Player of the Year. This award went to quarterback Joe Flacco.

Defensive Tackle Cameron Heyward of the Pittsburgh Steelers was named Walter Payton Man of the Year.
