NFL Free Agency 2022 begins on March 16, but teams are allowed to negotiate with players as early as March 14. All the news and rumours on trades, cuts and contract signings here in our live ticker.

Munich – On 16 March, the new NFL league year begins – and with it Free Agency. 208.2 million dollars are available to the teams in 2022 for player salaries.

+++ 9:15 p.m.: Jets pick up Bucs star +++

The New York Jets have secured the services of safety Jordan Whitehead, who previously signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to his agent, he signs a two-year, $14 million contract with the Jets.

+++ 8:17 p.m.: Bucs pick up receiver +++

Following the return of Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed another receiver.

Russell Gage, the former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, may well catch Brady’s balls next season. He is close to signing with the Florida team.

The Atlanta Falcons have tied up their kicker Younghoe Koo for the long term. He signs a five-year, $24.25 million contract.

+++ 5:56 p.m.: Broncos instead of Cowboys – turnaround on Gregory +++

The Denver Broncos are getting a massive boost. Pass rusher Randy Gregory did not reach an agreement with the Dallas Cowboys on a contract extension and is now joining the Colorado franchise.

There were reportedly disagreements over the contract structure.

The turnaround must have come at the last second, though, because screenshots are circulating that show the Cowboys had already announced the deal with Gregory on social media.

With the Broncos, Gregory signs a five-year contract worth $70 million, the same constellation he would have received with the Cowboys.

The Baltimore Ravens have struck at the safety position, picking up Marcus Williams. He signs a five-year, $70 million contract with the Ravens.

After 16 years and a Super Bowl title with the Los Angeles Rams, O-lineman Andrew Whitworth is calling it quits.

The 41-year-old is ending his career effective immediately.

The Cleveland Browns have parted ways with centre JC Tretter, who is president of the players’ union NFLPA, according to “ESPN.”

The Detroit Lions have re-signed defensive end Charles Harris to a two-year, $14 million deal, according to “ESPN.”

+++ 4:40 p.m.: Falcons likely to enter Watson poker +++

The list of interested parties for Deshaun Watson is already long. Now “ESPN” reports that the Atlanta Falcons are also said to be interested in the Houston Texans quarterback.

Previously, the Saints, Panthers and Bronws had been revealed as interested in a Watson trade.

Watson’s connection to the Falcons through their owner Arthur Blank is curious. Watson worked as a ball boy for the Falcons for several years as a youth, developing a relationship with the owning family.

The Dallas Cowboys have brought the next pillar of the defence to a contract extension after DeMarcus Lawrence and Malik Hooker: Pass rusher Randy Gregory extends in Dallas for five years. In the process, he earns 70 million dollars, 28 million of which he has already secured.

Gregory was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 and since then has 16.5 sacks and one interception. In 2021 alone he had 6.5 sacks and one interception.

Little surprise in Jacksonville: after the Jaguars signed a half-dozen free agents yesterday, the first layoffs follow – hitting linebacker Myles Jack.

Jack was one of the holdovers from the successful 2017 defence, serving as team captain in 2021 and the best in his franchise in that category with 108 tackles.

The Dallas Cowboys have given safety Malik Hooker a new contract. The former Indianapolis Colt will earn eight million dollars over two years with his new contract.

Hooker tallied 42 tackles and caught one interception last season.

The Minnesota Vikings are parting ways with defensive tackle Michael Pierce after effectively just one year.

He still signed a three-year, $27 million contract in the spring of 2020, however he is being shown the door by the Vikings after one year of opt outs as well as a poor season (eight games, three sacks).

The Las Vegas Raiders have secured the services of defensive back Darius Philipps. The pass defender will get $2.25 million for the upcoming season, it’s a one-year deal.

Philipps was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018, with the Raiders he is expected to be the contender for one of the cornerback positions, he is pencilled in as a backup.

The New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns have agreed to a trade of two linebackers. While the Browns have secured the services of outside linebacker Chase Winovich, the Patriots are pleased to have added Mack Wilson, who is more at home in the middle.

Draft picks are not involved in this trade, according to the Twitter account “Field Yates. “

The Detroit Lions have found a new partner for Amon-Ra St. Brown in the passing game. Wide receiver DJ Chark signs a one-year deal with the Michigan franchise, while reportedly earning ten million dollars, every cent of which is guaranteed.

According to the report, Rodgers is extending for four years and will receive a salary of $200 million, most of it at the end of the contract.

The New England Patriots are keeping Nick Folk and giving him a new two-year contract. The kicker will get five million dollars, 2.19 million of which is guaranteed. Folk has the chance to earn as much as 5.6 million through bonuses.

The 37-year-old has hit every field goal under 50 yards since 2020. In 2021, he even hit 36 field goals – a career best. His record with the Patriots overall: 76/84 field goals converted. In addition to Folk, the Pats have so far given new contracts to Devin McCourty, Matthew Slater, Brian Hoyer and James Ferentz.

Teddy Bridgewater has also apparently found a new team. The quarterback, who most recently played for the Denver Broncos, apparently plans to sign a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.

There’s definitely a lot going on with the Green Bay Packers today. Now linebacker De’Vondre Campbell is expected to be signed to a new contract.

According to his agent Joe Panos, it’s a five-year, $50 million contract.

The Philadelphia Eagles are also stepping up on defense: Linebacker Haason Reddick will sign a three-year deal that is expected to pay him a maximum of $49.5 million. 30 million is apparently guaranteed.

The 27-year-old was drafted 13th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 and last played for the Carolina Panthers in the 2021 season. In the process, he produced 10.5 sacks in twelve games.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have apparently found a replacement for Ben Roethlisberger. The franchise has reportedly agreed to terms with Mitch Trubisky on a two-year contract. This is reported by NFL reporter Mike Garafolo with reference to his sources.

The 27-year-old was drafted second overall by the Chicago Bears in 2017, but failed to live up to expectations in the Windy City. The quarterback had most recently been playing with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year contract.

In exchange, pass rusher Preston Smith received a new four-year contract that could pay him up to $52.5 million.

Davante Adams wants a long-term contract with the Green Bay Packers. The wide receiver has now reportedly informed officials that he will not play under the franchise tag next season. This is reported by NFL reporters Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero in agreement.

The franchise tag would pay Adams $20.45 million in the 2022 season, but the 29-year-old wants long-term security. Adams and the Packers now have until July 15 to negotiate a suitable contract.
