NFL: Former first-round pick D.J. Hayden dies in horror crash

Former NFL player D.J. Hayden is dead. The cornerback and five others died in a car crash.

Former NFL player D.J. Hayden died in a traffic accident in Houston on Saturday at the age of 33. This was reported by the “Houston Chronicle”.

The incident occurred on Fannin Street when a car ran a red light near the Gulf Freeway at around 2 a.m. and collided with another vehicle.

A total of six people died in the collision, including former Houston University football player Zach McMillan.

Two people survived the crash, with one woman hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to Houston police. It is currently unclear if Hayden was driving.

Hayden survives serious training accident

Hayden had gained national notoriety in 2012 when he suffered a near-fatal injury to the main vein leading to his heart in an unfortunate training accident. Despite the serious injury, the cornerback was released from the hospital after just one week.

In 2013, he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the first round. Other NFL stops included the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Football Team. He played a total of 92 NFL games
