In light of the financial heights of franchise sales, the owner of the Miami Dolphins is apparently also considering a sale.
Will Stephen Ross’ bank account fill up considerably in the near future?
The owner of the Miami Dolphins is quoted by the “Sports Business Journal” with statements that clearly indicate that he is looking into selling the franchise – at least in part.
According to the article, Ross stated that he now wants to “cash in on part” of the team. He had “never dreamed” of the financial spheres in which NFL teams are currently being sold.
In the past two years, two records have been set in terms of franchise sales: First the Denver Broncos were sold for 4.65 billion US dollars, then the Washington Commanders went over the table for 6.05 billion.
Ross would therefore have the opportunity to sell a considerable part of the team at a lucrative price while retaining control.
But: minority shareholdings that do not include voting rights are often valued lower than shareholdings that include management powers.
