NFL: Cowboys legend Michael Irvin criticises lack of vaccination readiness

NFL legend Michael Irvin has sharply criticised the lack of vaccination readiness among players on some teams. He takes his ex-team to task in particular because only the failure of the “right person” can end the season, Irvin said.

Michael Irvin, a three-time champion with the Dallas Cowboys, has criticised the lack of vaccination preparedness in some NFL teams.

“You’re not going to win the Super Bowl just like that. But nothing is more important. And if you’re not part of the teams that are 85 per cent vaccinated, that says there’s a lot of people on the team that care about other things than winning titles. That worries me,” Irvin said at an event, according to “ESPN”.

The three-time Super Bowl champion took his ex-team in particular to task. He would have looked to get his teammates vaccinated, Irvin stressed, and demanded the same from the leaders of the current Cowboys team.

Irvin: “Do you really believe in the title then? “

“If you are not one of the teams with 85 per cent, do you really believe in the title then?”, Irvin further opined. He said his main concern was that key players would contract Corona and then miss two weeks. “In this league, that could be it. If the ‘right’ person is out you are out real quick,” Irvin said.

Before the start of training camps, 13 teams have reached the 85 percent hurdle. The Indianapolis Colts and the Washington football team are the franchises with the lowest vaccination rate.
