Brian Flores gets prominent support in his lawsuit against the NFL. Steve Wilks, former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, and Ray Horton, longtime defensive coordinator within the league, are joining as co-plaintiffs from now on.

Munich – Brian Flores gets support in his lawsuit against the NFL. The 41-year-old had sued the league, accusing it of discrimination.

Now, former Arizona Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks and former Tennessee Titans (2014-2015) and Cleveland Browns (2016) defensive coordinator Ray Horton are joining as co-plaintiffs.

Wilks accuses the Cardinals of hiring him as a “stop-gap coach” by the franchise. He was never given a real chance to succeed, the 52-year-old continued. His successor Kliff Kingsbury, unlike him, would have had much more influence on decisions. General Manager Steve Keim, in particular, did not give him enough support or value his opinion on players, Wilks explained. Keim was partly responsible for the failure, yet only Wilks was fired, he said. He accuses the franchise of doing this because of the colour of his skin.

In addition, Keim and team owner Michael Bidwill were reportedly upset that the Cardinals won a game at the end of the 2018 season and were afraid they would miss out on the first pick of the 2019 draft because of it. After a 3-13 season, Wilks was released by the Cardinals. He is currently under contract with the Carolina Panthers.

Horton, who is not currently employed by any NFL team, blames the Titans. In 2016, they were looking for a new head coach. The 61-year-old describes his interview as “fake”. These statements are supported by Mike Mularky. The latter got the job instead of Horton and later explained in a podcast interview that before the franchise spoke to a candidate from an ethnic minority, he had already been welcomed by the Titans as their new head coach.
