NFL: Bills slip up against the Dolphins

Title contenders Buffalo Bills suffered a surprise third defeat of the season in the National Football League. The team led by star quarterback Josh Allen lost 13-30 to the recently struggling Miami Dolphins, putting in their worst performance of the season.

The Bills remained scoreless against the Dolphins, who had previously lost seven of nine games, until the final quarter. The usually reliable Allen remained unusually ineffective for a long time in both the running and passing game, only turning it on (too) late in the final quarter with two touchdowns.

On the other side, Miami’s controversial quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played between brilliant and hair-raising. Two touchdowns were offset by two interceptions – with 13 misplaced passes into the arms of the opposition, Tagovailoa once again replaced Geno Smith of the Las Vegas Raiders (12) at the top of the interception rankings. Tagovailoa now has 58 interceptions in 74 games in his career.

The New England Patriots secured their eighth win of the season, becoming the third team after the Indianapolis Colts, who beat Atlanta 31-25 in overtime in Berlin on Sunday, and the Denver Broncos (10-7 against Las Vegas on Thursday). However, the 28-23 win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was hard-fought.
