NFL: Bengals defeat Chiefs, Buccaneers avert defeat

The Cincinnati Bengals win in the last second against the Kansas City Chiefs. And it is by no means the only game that is decided with the last play. ran summarises the 7 p.m. games.

Kansas City Chiefs at Cincinnati Bengals 31:34

The Cincinnati Bengals made a strong comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With the last play, kicker Evan McPherson decided the game with a field goal from 20 yards. The Bengals are now the division winners of the AFC North.

Quarterback Joe Burrow had a spectacular game with 446 passing yards and four touchdown passes.

The same goes for wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who recorded an incredible 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was nowhere near as effective as his counterpart with 259 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Darrel Williams ran for two touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Football Team 20:16

The Washington Football Team blew their last chance to make the playoffs. An interception by quarterback Taylor Heinicke in the final minute of the game decided the game. Until then, the Washington playmaker had completed 27 of his 35 passes for 247 yards. However, he remained without a touchdown pass.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 214 yards and also remained without a touchdown pass. Running back Boston Scott got into the end zone twice.

Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens 20:19

The Los Angeles Rams finally decided a thrilling game in their favour. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown fumbled on the final play of the game. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley again proved to be a worthy replacement for Lamar Jackson. He threw for 197 yards and ran for 54 more.

Rams playmaker Matthew Stafford delivered a sometimes spectacular game with 309 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but also threw two interceptions. Von Miller excelled on defence with two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets 28:24

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers averted a surprising defeat with 21 seconds left in the game on a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Cyril Grayson. Brady delivered a strong game with 410 passing yards, three touchdown passes and only one interception. Rob Gronkowski was his favourite receiving station with 115 receiving yards.

Wide receiver Antonio Brown, on the other hand, caused a scandal by removing his jersey and equipment during the game and leaving the field. His dismissal was announced shortly afterwards.

Zach Wilson, the Jets’ playmaker, finished with 234 passing yards and one touchdown pass.

Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans 3:34

The Miami Dolphins, so strong of late, had a pitch black day against the Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for 205 yards but went without a touchdown pass and threw an interception. The running game was barely present with a total of 74 yards.

Titans playmaker Ryan Tannehill led his team to victory with just 120 passing yards, recording two touchdown passes. Running back D’Onta Foreman ran for a strong 132 yards and a touchdown. The Titans clinched the division title in the AFC South with the win.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots 10:50

The New England Patriots have outclassed the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the duel between Mac Jones, the number 15 pick of the Patriots, and Trevor Lawrence, the number 1 pick of Jacksonville, the quarterback of New England was clearly more effective. He recorded 227 passing yards, three touchdown passes and remained without a turnover. Lawrence totaled 193 yards, one touchdown pass and three interceptions.

Patriots running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris each got into the end zone twice.

New York Giants at Chicago Bears 3:25

In a game that had no sporting significance, the Chicago Bears got off to a perfect start and laid the foundation for the victory with two early touchdowns. Quarterback Andy Dalton threw for 173 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Giants operated with virtually no passing game. Mike Glennon completed only four passes for 24 yards and threw two interceptions. The only bright spot was running back Saquon Barkley with 102 rushing yards.

Atlanta Falcons at Buffalo Bills 15:29

The Buffalo Bills had a commanding victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Quarterback Josh Allen was not at all convincing as a passer this time. He only managed 120 passing yards and threw three interceptions. But he did get into the end zone twice, as did running back Devin Singletary.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan totalled 197 passing yards but did not throw a touchdown pass. While the Falcons are certain to miss the playoffs with the loss, the Bills have qualified for the postseason for the third year in a row.
