NFL: 74,000 dollar donation stolen? Williamson High School fires JaMarcus Russell

Ex-NFL star JaMarcus Russell is accused of stealing a donation of 74,000 US dollars. Now he has been fired as coach of Williamson High School

Former No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, JaMarcus Russell, has been fired by Williamson High School as a volunteer assistant coach.

According to a report by “ESPN”, the former NFL star is suspected of stealing or cashing a check for 74,000 dollars that was actually intended for the school.

“JaMarcus Russell was relieved of his volunteer coaching duties at Williamson High School last fall,” Mobile County Public School representatives told “WKRG Sports” about the separation from the ex-NFL pro. In addition, Russell is no longer allowed to enter the school grounds.

When he recently wanted to attend a Williamson High School football team event, he was told he was not welcome, according to the report.

“Earlier this week, Mr. Russell was again advised that he is not permitted to be at the football program or on school property,” the school district said in a statement to “WKRG Sports. “

The report states that Russell accepted a check from a local business owner and claimed it was to purchase equipment for the high school’s weight room.

However, the school never received the donation. Instead, Russell took the check, deposited it at a credit union and immediately withdrew $55,000. This is why Russell is now being sued.

Russell, now 38, used to play quarterback for Williamson High School before transferring to LSU and becoming an NFL pro with the Raiders. He was selected as the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, but is still considered one of the biggest misses.

During his NFL career, the ex-quarterback earned 36.4 million US dollars in salary and bonuses.
