Millions misappropriated? Baker Mayfield with petition against investment firm

Baker Mayfield is fighting for the starter’s job with the Buccaneers. Privately, he and his wife may be struggling with the possible embezzlement of millions

While quarterback Baker Mayfield is trying to get his football career back on track with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he apparently has another issue to deal with outside of the NFL.

According to “KXAN.com”, the playmaker and his wife Emily Mayfield have filed a petition to obtain information about the possible embezzlement of twelve million US dollars by an investment firm in Austin, Texas. A piquant fact is that several members of Mayfield’s family are said to belong to the company in question.

According to the report, the Mayfield couple is said to be demanding the handing over of financial documents. It says: “Petitioners simply do not know whether their money was properly and competently invested, whether it was stolen or otherwise misappropriated, or anything in the middle of that.”

He continued, “From January 2018 to the present, more than twelve million dollars has been transferred from the Petitioners’ personal accounts and routed through various companies and investments. Petitioners have been unable to account for or obtain information about the current location and/or status of these funds. “

All witnesses listed in the writ are members of Mayfield’s family.

From 2018 to 2021, Mayfield took in $32 million as an NFL pro, and in 2022 he gave up $4.6 million of his $15.5 million to facilitate a trade to the Panthers. In the coming season, another four million will be added to his account.

With the Buccaneers, the 28-year-old is battling Kyle Trask for the starter’s job.
