Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase harmonise like Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams

The Bengals host the Green Bay Packers in Week 5. Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow is building a similar bond with receiver Ja’Marr Chase that Aaron Rodgers has with Davante Adams.

Munich – In mid-July, a post on social media made it clear just how intimate the bond is between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

In the middle of a time of absolute uncertainty about their future, both posted the same picture. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen – a tribute to the documentary “The Last Dance”.

Whether both will really leave the Green Bay Packers together after the current season is still completely unclear.

Rodgers and Adams harmonise excellently

But what is clear is that both always harmonise exceptionally well on the field. Rodgers threw a staggering 18 touchdown passes to his favourite playmaker last season. More than any other quarterback-receiver pairing in the NFL.

And it’s working out between the two this season, too. Although Adams has “only” caught one touchdown pass, the already legendary last drive in the game against the 49ers, when Rodgers brought his team into field-goal range with two long passes to Adams with a few seconds left, speak for themselves. When A-Rod needs the pass receiver, he is there.

A similar pairing is currently developing with the Cincinnati Bengals. Playmaker Joe Burrow and receiver Ja’Marr Chase are generating excitement among fans after just four regular-season games together. And rightfully so.

Burrow and Chase know each other from college

In the first four days of play, the signal caller has already hooked up with his rookie receiver for four touchdown passes – including passes of 42 and 50 yards.

It’s no wonder that the duo is already harmonising early in the season. They already know each other from their college days. Both attended Louisiana State University for years and already proved their compatibility there.

In 2019, when Burrow threw a whopping 60 touchdown passes for LSU, Chase was his favourite kickoff target. The NFL rookie caught a touchdown pass 20 times at the time, totaling 84 catches for 1,780 yards.

So it’s no surprise that the Bengals admitted shortly after the 2021 NFL Draft that the chemistry Burrow and Chase had already developed in college was one of the reasons the receiver was drafted by the team.

Bengals host the Packers

“The cool thing is Joe and Ja’Marr have worked together for two years, this is their third year now. They have a good relationship with each other,” Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan enthused, “You can see it and feel it. They know how to communicate with each other. That’s very exciting to me. They don’t have to get to know each other, they already know each other. “

Burrow is also delighted. “He’s a really smart player who understands what we’re trying to do on offense. I don’t have to tell him what to do every single play. He knows exactly what’s expected of him,” the quarterback said.

His rookie pass receiver can only agree: “I see it the same way, of course.”

In Week 5, a very special challenge awaits the team in the form of the Green Bay Packers. In their home Paul Brown Stadium, they can show how much chemistry they really have in a direct duel with Rodgers and Adams.
