Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, considered one of the top prospects ahead of this year’s draft, will not participate in workouts at the Scouting Combine.

The Georgia Bulldogs star lineman will only interview with interested franchises and undergo a physical, he said. This was confirmed by his agent Drew Rosenhaus to “ESPN” insider Adam Schefter.

Carter will instead focus on the Georgia Pro Day on March 15 and audition in front of talent scouts, his agent added.

After winning his second straight National Championship with Georgia, the 21-year-old announced he would forgo his senior year of college and make the move to the NFL as early as this year.

NFL Draft 2023: Will Jalen Carter be the First Overall Pick?

The 6-foot-3, 140-pound tackle is considered a likely candidate for a pick inside the top five in the upcoming draft and is high in the mock drafts of U.S. pundits.

For Mel Kiper Jr. of “ESPN”, Carter will even go off the board as a First Overall Pick. For his “ESPN” colleague Todd McShay, he will be selected by the Chicago Bears after being traded down at position four.

Carter was unanimously named a 2022 All-American – an honorary title given to outstanding athletes in college. He was also named to the All-SEC First-Team, the selection for the season’s best players, and was a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award for best lineman.

This past season, the D-lineman struggled with injury problems on a frequent basis. A persistent ankle injury limited him for the first half of the season. Carter also suffered a knee injury in October that caused him to miss two games.
