Antonio Brown on the verge of a comeback: Scandal receiver wants to play for his own team

Antonio Brown already made a lot of headlines off the field in his NFL days. Since becoming the owner of the Albany Empire, the scandalous news hasn’t stopped. Now the wide receiver may want to play for his franchise himself – and could make his mark in the history books.

Antonio Brown hasn’t just been making headlines ever since he took over the Albany Empire – an indoor football team from the National Arena League.

Now it seems the wide receiver wants to return to the football field himself. As Rodger Wyland of “WNYT” reports, Brown has reportedly told him that he will play in his franchise’s next home game on May 27.

This could make the former NFL star the second owner after George Halas to play for his own franchise. Halas, who has already passed away, was a player, coach and owner of the Chicago Bears and was nicknamed “Papa Bear”.

Brown last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL in January 2022, but was released after a dispute. Since then, the 34-year-old has not been signed by any team.

Brown was selected in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, for whom he played until 2018. After headline-grabbing stints with the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots (2019), he landed with the Buccaneers in 2020, where he spent two seasons. Brown is a seven-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner with the Bucs.
