For Aaron Rodgers, the season seemed to be over after his Achilles tendon rupture. But now a comeback in the regular season is reportedly on the cards – on Christmas Eve of all days
It would perhaps be the biggest Christmas present for fans of the New York Jets: As Ian Rapoport of the “NFL Network” reports, the Jets’ NFL game against the Washington Commanders on December 24 is the “most likely time for Aaron Rodgers to return”.
A comeback against the Commanders in Week 16 could actually see Rodgers play in three more regular-season games after suffering a torn Achilles tendon after just a few minutes in the season opener on September 12.
According to Rapoport, however, a comeback this season is only possible if Rodgers is really healthy and the Jets are still in the playoff race at that point.
However, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that Rodgers himself is convinced of a comeback and a playoff chance. According to the report, Rodgers has told the Jets that he wants to return to team training on December 2.
The New York Islanders are currently 4-5 and not on course for the playoffs. But perhaps the prospect of a Rodgers comeback to the franchise will provide a new tailwind
