Aaron Rodgers announces on social media that he will receive part of his salary in Bitcoins from now on. The Green Bay Packers quarterback is also gifting his followers with the cryptocurrency.
Munich – More than 22 million US dollars will be transferred to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ account in the 2021 season.
Now, the signal caller has declared that he’s cashing out a portion of that in Bitcoins starting immediately.
“I’m excited about Bitcoins because I believe it’s the future of money: it’s valuable, super secure and no one can manipulate it. That’s why I partnered with Cash App to receive a portion of my salary in Bitcoins today,” the 37-year-old wrote on social media.
Rodgers give away Bitcoins to fans
To ensure the playmaker’s fans are also introduced to the new form of payment, Rodgers has come up with something special.
“Bitcoins are new and the concept can be intimidating. To make Bitcoins more accessible to my fans, I’m giving away a total of $1 million in Bitcoins,” the quarterback said.

More and more athletes are now getting paid in the new type of cryptocurrency. The first NFL player to draw his salary this way was Russell Okung.
The Carolina Panthers offensive tackle has been receiving part of his salary in bitcoins since December 2020.
