2026 World Cup: Marshawn Lynch on the Job as a Photographer at a Match2026 World Cup: Marshawn Lynch on the Job as a Photographer at a U.S. Match

Marshawn Lynch has embarked on an unusual second career: At the 2026 World Cup, the former NFL star is working as a photographer. This time, not on a football field, but on a soccer field.

Marshawn Lynch is a man of many talents. The former Seattle Seahawks running back was a guest at the World Cup group stage match between the U.S. and Australia in his hometown—but not as a spectator, rather as an accredited photographer on the sidelines.

Lynch was spotted at Lumen Field before kickoff wearing a green photographer’s vest and holding a camera.

Even before the game, he had joined thousands of fans in the “March to the Match” from Pier 58 to the stadium, acting as an unofficial cheerleader. On his bike, he practically led the crowds of fans to the game himself.

Marshawn Lynch is already working as a photographer in the NFL

The 40-year-old has increasingly made a name for himself as a sports photographer in recent years. Lynch was already seen on the sidelines with his camera gear during Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and his former Seahawks in February.

He was also on the scene with his camera at the preseason game between Seattle and the Las Vegas Raiders—another of his former teams—as well as at the boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford and the Daytona 500 NASCAR race.

Lynch is thus joining a trend of sports stars who switch to being behind the lens (after their active careers). Gymnast Simone Biles and basketball player Caitlin Clark have also been spotted in recent months as accredited photographers at professional games.

For Lynch, who rushed for over 10,000 yards during his NFL career, reached the Super Bowl twice, and won it once, photography is just one of many ventures he’s pursued since retiring. The Oakland native has also recently gained acting experience, including in “Euphoria” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and is a minority owner of the Seattle Kraken in the NHL.
