Victory over New York Jets: Indianapolis Colts bounce back

The Indianapolis Colts bounce back after losing the divisional duel with the Tennessee Titans in the Thursday Night Game. Against the New York Jets, the running backs get the Colts on track, quarterback Carson Wentz removes all doubt.

Kansas City/Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Colts bounced back from an overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans to keep their chances of making the playoffs alive.

Quarterback Carson Wentz’s team defeated the New York Jets 45-30 (28-10) to record their fourth win on Game 9. With a record of 4-5, the Colts rank second in the AFC South and 12th overall in the AFC, tied for sixth after wins with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike White out with injury

It was a setback for the Jets after their win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Especially since their second quarterback, Mike White, was injured in the sixth loss in the eighth game of the season. The replacement had stepped in for Zach Wilson, who was also injured, the previous week but did not finish the game with the Colts.

A right hand injury put him out of action in the first quarter after his touchdown pass to Elijah Moore. Third-string quarterback Josh Johnson came in for White. The former XFL passer, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, completed 27 of 41 passes for three touchdowns with one interception.

However, touchdowns to Moore, Ryan Griffin and Ty Johnson at 16:42, 23:42 and 30:45 were only cosmetic to the result.

Taylor with 172 Rushing Yards

On the other side, Wentz also impressed with three touchdown passes to Jack Doyle, Michael Pittman and Danny Pinter to make it 21:7, 28:10 and 35:10 in the meantime.

The outstanding players on the field were running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Hynes scored on a 34-yard run to make it 7-0, while Taylor added two scores with a 21-yard and a 78-yard touchdown to make it 14-7 and 42-10 respectively.

The duo totalled 246 rushing yards, Taylor 172 and Hynes 74.

After their success in the Thursday Night Game, Indianapolis will play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Matchday 10, while the Jets will also play the Buffalo Bills in a divisional duel.
