Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers may have been part of a trade offer for former Panthers star Christian McCaffrey. As NFL insider Dov Kleinman wrote on “Twitter”, the Rams would have put together a neat package alongside Akers to bring “CMC” to them.
Munich/Los Angeles – Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers was nearly sent away in the trade for position-mate Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers.
According to NFL insider Dov Kleinman, the Rams made a trade offer for McCaffrey that would have included the 23-year-old, who likely has no future in Los Angeles.
Update: Eagles and Broncos were also among the teams that were in on the Christian McCaffrey trade before he was dealt to the 49ers, according to SI.
They only offered a 3rd or a 4th. Not nearly what San Francisco ended up paying
We already know the Bills/Rams were on it too

Accordingly, the Rams would have been willing to put together a decent package for star running back McCaffrey.
In addition to Akers, the Rams reportedly offered a second- and third-round pick in the 2023 draft and a fourth- and fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft for “CMC. “However, as we know, the trade did not happen.
Christian McCaffrey: San Francisco 49ers pick up star running back
Eventually, star running back McCaffrey was traded from the Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers.
From San Francisco, the Panthers received four picks for “CMC” almost identical to those offered by the Rams for the upcoming drafts: A second-, third- and fourth-round pick in 2023, and a fifth-round pick in 2024.
Carolina thus probably decided against the supposedly better deal with the Rams.
According to Kleinman, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos were also in the running for the running back star, but probably offered too little value.
