Tennessee Titans: Mike Vrabel and A.J. Brown react to firing of general manager Jon Robinson

The Tennessee Titans fire General Manager Jon Robinson, shortly followed by Head Coach Mike Vrabel and former Titans receiver A.J. Brown speaking out on the decision.

Munich/Nashville – Head coach Mike Vrabel and former Tennessee Titans receiver A.J. Brown spoke out Wednesday on the firing of general manager Jon Robinson, who was relieved of his duties after nearly seven years in Nashville.

“Change is never easy, but we know we all have to do our jobs. That’s evaluated every day, that’s what I told the team and the staff. We all have a personal relationship with Jon in some way. But it’s not about personal sensitivities,” Vrabel told a press conference on Wednesday.

Titans HC Vrabel: “Have to respect decision and keep working “

“We have to respect the decision, understand it and keep working. We have to do everything we can to make sure our players are prepared for the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars,” said the head coach, looking ahead to Tuesday’s surprising news from Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.

In addition, Vrabel reported that he was not involved in the personnel decision, but was merely informed about it on Tuesday and had a “great relationship” with Jon and still does. He was also grateful that Jon had given him the opportunity to serve as head coach.

Tennessee Titans: Did the Brown trade doom Robinson?

Various US media outlets are reporting dissatisfaction with certain of Robinson’s personnel decisions, most notably the trade of top receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles on the first day of the 2022 draft is said to have been criticized.

Last game day, the former Titans pass receiver dismantled his ex-team in a 35-10 win with 119 receiving yards as well as two touchdowns. “I just put it behind me. What happens in Tennessee is in Tennessee. It doesn’t bother me anymore, I don’t think about it,” the 25-year-old said.

Currently, Ryan Cowden is taking over Robinson’s job on an interim basis. It is not yet known who will succeed the 46-year-old as general manager.
